Haenyeo is a site-specific hydro-opera of “vocal sculptures,” combining movement, voice, underwater sounds, and electronics. Inspired by Korea’s freediving women – or haenyeo – and their symbiotic relationship with the ocean, it explores themes of ecological conservation, interdependence and hydrofeminism.
